David focuses his practice on civil litigation including automobile and motorcycle wrecks, tractor trailer collisions, products liability, child injuries, nursing home abuse and neglect, insurance bad faith, premises liability, construction litigation, and wrongful death. David is admitted to practice law in South Carolina, the District Court of South Carolina, and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.

David is AV rated, a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, Super Lawyers, Best Lawyers, America’s Top 100 High Stakes Litigators, American Society of Legal Advocates Top 100, American Institute of Personal Injury Attorneys, The National Trial Lawyers Top 40 under 40, America’s Top 100 Attorneys and many other sources of recognition.

David was born in Orangeburg, South Carolina. He received his Bachelor of Arts in business economics with an emphasis in computer science and information management and a minor in government from Wofford College. At Wofford, he was on the Dean’s List; played tight end for the Terriers; was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order; studied abroad in Honduras, France, Hong Kong, Thailand, and Costa Rica; and served as a Counselor at Palmetto Boys State.

He attended Harvard University for a summer, where he studied eCommerce and capital markets and investments. David received his juris doctor from the University of South Carolina where he was a member of the John Belton O’Neall Inn of Court, Student Bar Association, Phi Delta Phi, Palmetto Law Society, Beaux Arts Society, and the Law Democrats.

David resides in Orangeburg with his wife Virginia “Ginny” Watson Williams and their three children. Ginny also practices law with David.

Ginny’s practice focuses on civil litigation, representing individuals with personal injuries due to medical malpractice, automobile wrecks, defective products, nursing home abuse and neglect, and unsafe premises, among others. She also represents individuals and small businesses in business litigation, contract disputes, and insurance coverage issues. Ginny is admitted to practice law in South Carolina, the District Court of South Carolina, and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. She has also been recognized as a Super Lawyer and a member of the Litigation Counsel of America.

Prior to law school, Ginny received a master’s degree in bilingual legal interpreting and worked as a freelance interpreter and translator. She has also worked as a Spanish-speaking victim’s advocate for the Charleston County Solicitor’s Office and as a clerk with the South Carolina Senate Judiciary Committee.

Ginny was born and raised in Pinopolis, a small town in the Lowcountry of South Carolina. In addition to her master’s degree, Ginny graduated summa cum laude from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish from the University of South Carolina.

At USC, she was a part of in the Honors College, competed with the USC Mock Trial Team, served as a student program director in the Community Service Office, held leadership positions with Habitat for Humanity, and enrolled in piano performance classes throughout her four years at USC. Ginny also attended law school at the University of South Carolina, where she was a member of the Student Bar Association, and served on the Pro Bono Board.

Ginny resides in Orangeburg with her husband David and their three children. Her family actively supports and advocates for Orangeburg Calhoun Technical College, First Baptist Church of Orangeburg, and Orangeburg area primary and secondary schools.

Brad Hutto is from the Providence Community near Holly Hill in eastern Orangeburg County, where he grew up on his family’s dairy farm. He is married to Dr. Tracy Macpherson, a pediatrician at The Pediatric Clinic in Orangeburg. They have one son, Skyler, who is also a lawyer at Williams & Williams.

In 1978, Brad Hutto graduated magna cum laude from the Honors Program at the University of South Carolina with a B.A. degree. At age 23, he graduated with a J.D. degree from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, DC in 1981. He is currently an adjunct professor at the University of South Carolina Honors College.

Brad Hutto practices in the following areas: civil litigation, criminal defense, DUI defense, automobile accidents, traffic violations, general litigation, and consumer class actions.

He received recognition as the 1992 South Carolina Young Lawyer of the Year Award from the South Carolina Bar Association. He is a member the South Carolina Association for Justice and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He is one of the founders of and member of the South Carolina Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. For the last decade, he has been recognized in The Best Lawyers of America for his work in the practice area of DUI defense.

Brad Hutto was elected to the Senate of South Carolina for District 40 on April 30, 1996 to fill the unexpired term of his late law partner, Senator Marshall B. Williams. He was sworn in on May 7, 1996, representing Orangeburg and Barnwell counties in the Senate. Brad Hutto was re-elected to the South Carolina Senate in 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016, and 2020. He represents Senate District 40 which includes Bamberg County, Barnwell County, and portions of Allendale, Colleton, Hampton and Orangeburg counties. He currently serves as the Minority Leader of the South Carolina State Senate.

For his work in the General Assembly of South Carolina, Brad Hutto has received numerous awards and recognitions. He was honored with the Distinguished Service Award from the Municipal Association of South Carolina (2002). He is the two-time recipient of the Legislator of the Year Award from the South Carolina Association of Counties (2002 and 2011). He has also received Legislator of the Year recognition from the South Carolina State Firefighters’ Association (2011), the South Carolina Solicitors’ Association, the South Carolina Public Health Association (2004), the SC Human Services Providers Association (2014), and SC Council of Governments (2019).

For his advocacy for farmers, he has received recognition from the South Carolina Farm Bureau and the Palmetto Agribusiness Council. He is the recipient of Legislative Advocacy Award from the Greenville Hospital System Children’s Hospital Development Council (2012), the Barbara W. Moxon Advocacy Award from Planned Parenthood (2011), and Children’s Trust of South Carolina (2017). He was named a Champion of Choice by Planned Parenthood in 2019. He received the Golden Palmetto Award from the South Carolina Cable Television Association in 2008.

Other legislative honors have come from the South Carolina Rural Health Association (2000), South Carolina School Nurses (2002), Claflin University (2000), the South Carolina Medical Association (2009), the South Carolina Tobacco Collaborative (2010), the South Carolina Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy (2011), the SC Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (2012), and South Carolina Coalition of Healthy Families (2014). For his work in conservation, he has been recognized by the Friends of the Edisto (2012), the South Carolina Sierra Club (2015) and with the Green Tie Award from the Conservation Voters of South Carolina (2015). He was named MADD Legislator of the Year in 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, and 2019.

Brad Hutto has been active with the Boy Scouts of America for over five decades. He is an Eagle Scout, a Vigil Honor Member of the Order of the Arrow, a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award, the Order of the Arrow Founder’s Award, and the Whitney M. Young, Jr. Service Award. He has also been recognized with the Outstanding Eagle Scout Award and Distinguished Eagle Scout Award. At the National Annual Meeting in Denver in 2019, he received the Silver Antelope Award. He served on Boy Scout Camp staff at Camp Barstow and Camp Coker, was Lodge Chief for Muscogee Lodge, has attended 4 national jamborees and has been to Philmont three times. He currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Indian Waters Council, BSA and was its president from 2009-2011. During the 100th year anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America in 2010, he was named to the BSA Centennial Leadership Hall of Fame by the council.

Brad and his wife Tracy enjoy the outdoors. They have backpacked thousands of miles on the Appalachian Trail, the Foothills Trail, the Palmetto Trail, the Inca Trail in Peru, the Kalalau Trail in Hawaii, and at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico.

Russell A. Blanchard, IV is a resident of Orangeburg, South Carolina. He attended high school, here in his hometown, at Orangeburg Preparatory Schools, Inc. and continued his education by attending the University of South Carolina. Russ was a member of the Phi Kappa Honor Society, and graduated magna cum laude in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He then pursued his law degree at the University of South Carolina School of Law while working as a law clerk here at Williams & Williams.

In 2007, Russ graduated from law school and was admitted to practice law in the State of South Carolina. Russ practices in the following areas of law: criminal defense, automobile accidents, workers’ compensation, real estate litigation, probate litigation, wills, traffic violations, wrongful death, civil litigation, and tort cases. Russ has also trained as a mediator and is certified to mediate cases filed in probate and family court.

Russ is married to Jennifer Blanchard, a financial advisor with Commonwealth Financial Group. They have two children who keep them busy with activities like sports and dance. Their family is extremely active in the First Baptist Church of Orangeburg, where Russ and Jennifer have both served in leadership roles.

Since October of 2010, Russ and Jennifer have been going on mission trips to Haiti. With a group from several churches in the Orangeburg area, they have helped install water filtration systems, and taught vacation bible school classes in orphanages, schools, and small villages. A video from their trip can be viewed here. These trips sparked a passion for missions both locally and in Haiti. After returning from their second trip, Russ and Jennifer helped start a nonprofit that supports an orphanage in Haiti, and builds churches in Peru.

In August of 2019, Russ was sworn in as a Municipal Judge for the Town of Allendale. He has enjoyed being involved in the Allendale community and has gained additional knowledge and insight through his role as a judge.

Russ is admitted to practice law in all state courts in South Carolina and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. In his spare time Russ enjoys golf, cooking, cycling, and raising chickens.

Skyler Hutto was born and raised in Orangeburg, South Carolina. He graduated with honors from Vanderbilt University, and went on to earn his Juris Doctor from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law.

While in law school, Skyler was recognized for his oral advocacy as well as his work on the Indiana Journal of Law and Social Equality. In Indiana, he worked part-time for the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office, and served as the vice president of Graduate Student Government.

Skyler began his legal career as a law clerk for Judge Perry M. Buckner in the Fourteenth Judicial Circuit, which encompasses the southernmost part of our state. He coordinated scheduling, drafting, and legal research while assisting the presiding judge in both General Sessions and Common Pleas cases.

With Williams & Williams, Skyler has practiced in civil litigation, automobile collisions, trucking collisions, criminal defense, DUI defense, traffic violations, constitutional claims, false arrests, and general litigation. Over the last several years, Skyler has been a part of noteworthy litigation regarding wrongful imprisonment, indefinite detention, false arrests, and other unconstitutional government action. As part of his pro bono representation of South Carolina School Districts, he has twice represented public schools in the State Supreme Court, helping to set important precedent protecting the integrity of the public school system.

He was recently recognized for some of this work on the South Carolina “Pro Bono Honor Roll,” and he was named to The State newspaper’s “20 Under 40.” Skyler also works as a legal studies professor for Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College. Furthermore, he works a part-time public defender, a position that has allowed him to try dozens of jury trials in Orangeburg alone. During this time, Skyler has served as the president of the Orangeburg County Bar and as a judge for mock trial competitions.

Outside of the legal world, Skyler has been a lifelong Scout and outdoorsman. He has received the Eagle Scout Award, Vigil Honor, Hornaday Award, and Founders Award. Skyler served as the Lodge Chief for Muscogee Lodge, and he is currently serving as a district chair for the Edisto District of the Indian Waters Council, which includes Orangeburg, Bamberg, and Calhoun counties.

Andy was raised in Orangeburg, South Carolina, and attended school at Orangeburg Prep. He went to college at the University of South Carolina, and graduated with a degree in finance.

After working in the restaurant and bar business for several years, he decided to stop tending bar and start studying for the bar. He attended law school at the University of South Carolina, where he graduated in 2004.

Andy joined Williams & Williams in January of 2020. Before then, Andy worked for a large, well-respected defense firm in Columbia, where he practiced for 15 years. During his time there, Andy was a board member of the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys Association.

Andy is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell, a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, and a member of the John Belton O’Neall Inn of Court. He was named as a Super Lawyers Rising Star in 2013 and 2014, and included in Columbia Business Monthly list of Legal Elite of the Midlands in 2012, 2015 and 2016. Andy was recognized for The Best Lawyers in America as Personal Injury Litigation-Plaintiff’s in 2021.

Andy’s practice concentrates on civil litigation, including automobile and trucking accidents, premises liability, products liability, and professional malpractice.

Despite being a terrible golfer, Andy enjoys spending time on the golf course, and is a past chairman of the board for Hootie and the Blowfish’s Monday after the Masters charity golf tournament.

Andy and his wife, Courtney, live with their two children, John Andrew and Blair, in Columbia.

Maya Grace Slaughter is a native of Orangeburg, SC. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Boston College, where she studied political science with a concentration in Islamic civilizations and societies. In conjunction with her studies, she received a grant to fund her study of politics and oil in Kuwait, Dubai, and Qatar.

Prior to beginning her study of law, she was selected from approximately 57,000 applicants for Teach for America to join a national teacher corps of graduates who teach two years in under-resourced public schools. After completing her two-year commitment to Teach for America working as an elementary school teacher in Trenton, NJ, Maya worked as a family service coordinator at the OCAB Community Action Agency in Orangeburg. She is also the former director of communications and policy development for the South Carolina House Democratic Caucus, and previously served as state political director for Senator Elizabeth Warren.

She received her JD from the University of South Carolina School of Law. While attending USC she served as a Law School Ambassador, was elected as a representative for the law school’s Student Government Association, founded a pre-law mentorship program with the Black Law Student Association, earned a CALI award for academic achievement, and was awarded the Best Oralist award in the Kate Bockman Memorial Moot Court Competition for oral argument.

Maya clerked for the Richland County Public Defender’s Office and for local firms specializing in criminal defense. She also completed the Criminal Practice Clinic at USC which provides pro-bono legal services for indigent clients.

She is a former Miss Garden City, and enjoys volunteering with the Miss Orangeburg and Miss Garden City pageants in numerous community service projects.
